Welcome to The Eels Foot Inn
Introducing the Eels Foot Inn...
Julian, Alex and their children, Sophie and Louis welcome you to this traditional, cosy, English Inn, located off the B1122 between Yoxford and Leiston in East Suffolk. We are lucky to be part of the Adnams 'Golden Triangle' in close proximity to Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Southwold. For lovers of music and the arts The Eels Foot Inn is just a short hop from Snape Maltings concert hall and Henham Park, the venue for the 'Latitude' festival.
The Eel's Foot nestles in the pretty hamlet of Eastbridge in the heart of the Heritage Coast and 400 metres from the RSPB Minsmere Reserve.
The location is popular with walkers, cyclists, bird watchers and holidaymakers. We have recently incorporated to the pub the 'Eastbridge Cycle Hire Company' with a good supply of 'Giant' Mountain and Hybrid bikes available to hire at competitive rates.
The freshwater marshes bordering the Inn afford plenty of opportunity for watching an abundance of birds and butterflies. A bridleway leads you through scenic countryside directly to the sea, a comfortable walk of less than an hour, linking to the Suffolk Coastal Path and Dunwich to the north. Footpaths lead you along the riverside and through woodlands where red deer gather for the 'rut' in October.
Back at the Eels Foot you can enjoy Adnams Cask Ales and wines or sample a glass of Suffolk Aspalls Cider and while away an afternoon counting the resident chickens (not an easy task after a pint or two of Adnams)! With our latest addition of play equipment in the shape of a 'Traction Engine' slide to keep your little and bigger ones entertained.
We serve full meals and lighter options, we try to source as much as we can locally with fresh fish from Lowestoft, meat from Peasenhall bread from Leiston and even our ice cream is locally made. We have a non booking policy for food so we can feed as many of our guests as possible.
For those wishing to stay a while we have six, large comfortable ensuite bedrooms all with flat screen televisions and contemporary, stylish, country style decor. One of the rooms has wheelchair access and we can accommodate families. We can also arrange bed and breakfast for dogs at nearby kennels.
Our extensive gardens and patio areas are the ideal spot for a little lazyman's bird watching. We have high hopes that our new Barn Owl nesting box will soon attract new residents!
The Eels Foot has a long tradition of Folk Music and musicians still gather on a Thursday evening for a jam session. This 'Squit Night' attracts musicians from near and far. Guitars, banjos, concertinas and even the bagpipes can sometimes be heard and enjoyed as they play together in harmony! For a more Traditional Folk experience come along on the last Sunday in the month and join in the chorus of an old sea shanty or two. Often we have Morris dancers blocking the road for a few minutes or more and it has been known for the odd guest to have a tinkle on our baby grand piano which sits in our darts room.
