Welcome to The Eels Foot Inn

Introducing the Eel's Foot Inn... Adnams Best Presented Pub 2014!

Eels Foot InnLandlord Julian Wallis and his team welcome you to this traditional inn . The Eel's Foot nestles in the pretty hamlet of Eastbridge in the heart of the Heritage Coast and on the doorstep of  RSPB Minsmere Reserve.  We are fortunate to be part of the Adnams 'Golden Triangle' in close proximity to Aldeburgh, Dunwich and Southwold.  For lovers of Music and the Arts, The Eel's Foot Inn is just a short hop from Snape Maltings home to the world famous Concert Hall operated by Aldeburgh Music.  .

The freshwater marshes bordering the Inn afford plenty of opportunity for watching an abundance of birds and butterflies. A bridleway leads you through scenic countryside directly to the sea, a comfortable walk of less than an hour, linking to the Suffolk Coastal Path and Dunwich to the north. Footpaths lead you along the riverside and through woodlands where large numbers of red deer gather for the annual 'rut' in October. A wonderful opportunity to witness the stags posturing, bellowing and if you are lucky clashing their antlers!

We serve full meals and lighter options, and try to source as much as we can locally with: fresh fish from Lowestoft, fresh fruit, vegetables  and meat from Suffolk farms and bread from Saxmundham. Even our delicious ice-cream is locally made! As a pub we have made a conscious decision not to take table bookings mainly due to the flow of walkers and birders who don't like to be tied to a set time for food.  We will however always feed you even of you may have to wait a short time for a table.

For those wishing to stay a while we have six, large comfortable ensuite bedrooms all with flat screen televisions and contemporary, stylish, country style decor. One of the rooms has wheelchair access and we can accommodate families in our two family rooms. We are happy to accommodate well behaved animals for a minimal fee.

Our extensive gardens and patio areas are the ideal spot for a little lazyman's bird watching. If your lucky you can see barn owls quartering the surrounding marshes, otters playing in the dyke along side the caravan park and marsh harriers sky-dancing over the reed-beds! For the younger members of the family two extensive pieces of play equipment, A "Ghost Ship" and a "Traction Engine" will provide plenty of enjoyment.

The Eel's Foot has a long tradition of Folk Music and musicians still gather on a Thursday evening for a jam session. The locals call it  'Squit Night' and it attracts musicians from near and far. Guitars, banjos, concertinas and even the bagpipes can sometimes be heard and enjoyed as they play together in harmony! For a more Traditional Folk experience come along on the last Sunday of the month when a local folk club meet, and join in the chorus of an old sea shanty or two.
